BEYOND EPICENTERS: Assessing Earthquake Vulnerability Through Economic and Social Network aims to develop an innovative methodology for disaster risk assessment by analysing the interconnections between social, economic, and infrastructural systems. The project seeks to improve disaster resilience through advanced vulnerability models and dynamic risk mapping tools, while validating the proposed methodology through real-case scenarios in Türkiye, Morocco, and Portugal.

The event brought together the entire project consortium, including an impressive network of European and international partners from academia, research, and technology sectors, highlighting the strong collaborative and interdisciplinary dimension of the project.

During the hybrid kick-off meeting, the BEYOND EPICENTERS consortium, together with the REA Project Officer, discussed the scientific and organizational framework of the project, including partner presentations, work package implementation, coordination activities, and the project roadmap. The event was essential for strengthening collaboration among the participating institutions, aligning the consortium’s objectives, and ensuring a coordinated approach towards the development of innovative disaster risk assessment and resilience strategies.

This kick-off marks the beginning of a pioneering collaborative effort to advance disaster risk assessment through integrated systemic modelling, advanced analytics, and international validation, ultimately strengthening resilience and enabling more effective, evidence-based disaster preparedness and response worldwide.
